About the Committee for Medicinal Products for Veterinary Use (CVMP)
The CVMP is responsible for preparing European Medicines Agency opinions on all questions concerning veterinary medicines. In particular, it plays a vital role in the marketing authorisation procedures of the European Union working to ensure that veterinary medicines that reach the marketplace have a positive benefit-risk balance in favour of the animal population they are intended for. The members of the CVMP, who are nominated by the European Union Member States in consultation with the Agency's Management Board, are chosen on the strength of their qualifications and expertise with regard to the evaluation of medicines.
