Role Summary

Reporting to the Market Compliance Manager, the Scientific Officer assists the Market Compliance Manager in the day to day operation of the HPRA Sampling & Analysis programme. This involves the collection of samples from the supply chain, making arrangements for the analysis of such samples at any of several contract laboratories used by the HPRA, reviewing test results from the laboratories, and assisting in the actioning of those test results in order to protect public and animal health, when required. The role also involves performing examinations on the packaging and labelling of medicinal products from a compliance perspective.

As part of this work, the Scientific Officer maintains effective working relationships with the Enforcement section of the HPRA, with members of the Compliance Department and the HPRA as a whole, and with colleagues at HPRA’s Contract Laboratories, in Ireland and elsewhere, to ensure that the HPRA Sampling & Analysis activities are carried out in accordance with defined procedures.
