Public consultation for the Evaluation of the Blood, Tissues and Cells legislation

In May 2017, the European Commission launched a stakeholder consultation on the EU legislation on blood, tissues and cells.

The purpose of this consultation was to support a comprehensive evaluation of the Union legislation on blood, tissues and cells, Directives 2002/98/EC and 2004/23/EC and their implementing (technical) Directives, examining their functioning across the EU.  In particular the consultation aimed to gather views on the extent to which the Directives have met their original objectives and whether they remain fit for purpose.

The results of the public consultation and views expressed by stakeholders in other forums will be reviewed and will feed into a final evaluation report on the EU Directives on blood, tissues and cells to be published towards the end of 2018.
