HPRA hosts information evening for healthcare professionals on biosimilar medicines

The HPRA recently hosted a successful information evening for healthcare professionals to outline how biosimilar medicines are approved for use in patients.
Approximately 60 attendees were present to hear a range of presentations from HPRA staff members and from Dr. Anthony O’Connor who presented from the physician perspective.
The topics covered by the HPRA team included:
- An overview of biological and biosimilar medicines;
- Quality and non-clinical data requirements for biosimilars;
- Clinical data requirements for biosimilars;
- Pharmacovigilance;
- International trends and Interchangeability.

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session which incorporated a varied range of queries from attendees.
