The Veterinary Science Department’s Veterinary Medicines Assessment Section is responsible for the assessment of the safety and efficacy aspects of applications for marketing authorisations and pharmacovigilance monitoring of veterinary medicines which are authorised for use in Ireland and across the European Union. This includes pharmaceuticals, immunologicals and other technologies. This section currently comprises of eight scientific assessors and is also involved in monitoring antibiotic consumption and in various other regulatory areas concerned with veterinary medicines.
