Role Summary
The Senior Medical Officer will work in the Human Products Authorisation and Registration (HPAR) department (assessment and licensing activities).
Reporting to the Clinical Assessment Manager, the role of the Senior Medical Officer is to

People manage medical officers and clinical assessors and perform line management responsibilities

As clinical capacity lead,
-
lead in the development of a clinical capacity model.

liaise and coordinate work allocation with colleagues in clinical, non-clinical and pharmaceutical assessment
- Lead & assist in the
a) provision of technical support to the Clinical Assessment Managers, the Director of HPAR, and other areas of the organisation on relevant issues relating to the safety and efficacy of medicines
b) development of the HPAR’s strategic approach to the assessment of medicines & clinical trials
c) strategic development of the organisation, the delivery of the strategic plan and the HPRA people strategy
d) co-ordination resources to align with HPAR’s strategy
e) capability building across HPAR
f) development of internal mentoring and training programmes

Providing leadership, support and direction to the clinical assessment team

Work with the clinical assessment manager to maintain effective communication lines by cascading relevant information to the clinical assessment team
