New Veterinary Regulation – Update July 2024

Regulation 2019/6, known as the New Veterinary Regulation, legislates for the authorisation, use and monitoring of veterinary medicinal products in the European Union. The legislation came into force on 28 January 2022.

A dedicated section on our website (hpra.ie/NewVetReg) provides resources to assist stakeholders in making the necessary changes to their businesses to comply with the new legislation. The website section includes responses to frequently asked questions, video recordings from HPRA webinars and updates published on an as-needed basis to communicate information on key legislative, regulatory, ICT and procedural changes relating to veterinary medicines.

Update July 2024

A new update was published today and provides a summary of relevant updates from the European Commission, the European Medicines Agency, the Coordination Group for Mutual Recognition and Decentralised Procedures (Veterinary), in addition to a HPRA update on the national implementation of the Regulation.
