The Sungift 500 scooter is a battery powered mobility scooter for people with impaired mobility.  During the investigation of an incident in Norway it was found that a risk of overheating of the battery wire in the Sungift 500 scooter can result in a fire.  As a result of this incident Sungift 500 scooters have been withdrawn from the Norwegian market.

The manufacturer of these devices Sungift PLC no longer exists and therefore the Irish Medicines Board (IMB) has not been able to establish if these devices have been sold in Ireland.

The IMB is not aware of any similar incidents occurring in Ireland at this time.
