If you are intending to breed, supply and/or use animals for scientific or educational purposes, you must first be vetted by the HPRA, and be granted an authorisation. Below is a list of the forms and guides that are required for an application, amendment or withdrawal of the authorisation. Persons carrying out scientific procedures on animals or acting as a project manager for a project authorisation or who will be performing procedures or euthanasia of animals, must be authorised by the HPRA. To perform scientific procedures involving the use of animals you must obtain a project authorisation from the HPRA. Below is a list of the forms and guides that are required for an application, amendment or withdrawal of an authorisation.

Some project authorisations will be granted by the HPRA only on condition that a retrospective assessment be conducted following completion of the study. In order to submit the retrospective assessment, the below guide and form should be used:
