Aim of the event

The National Committee is pleased to offer this event aimed towards researchers, animal care staff, designated veterinarians, animal welfare bodies, and members of ethics committees.

The key objectives of the event are to:

  • promote an understanding of the principles of good experimental design
  • provide advice and examples on the practical application of the 3Rs
  • inform delegates about severity frameworks and the use of score sheets to improve welfare and science

The event will also provide an opportunity to address questions from delegates and to participate in species-specific workshops.

The event will take place as an in-person event, providing opportunities to network with other delegates as well as with specialist experts, National Committee members and HPRA SAP personnel.  

Who should attend?

This event is relevant for all sections of the Irish research community; researchers, animal care staff and veterinarians, animal welfare body members, and members of ethics committees.

Registration for the event will be €65, and advance registration is essential.
