#MedSafetyWeek 2025 – highlighting the importance of reporting side effects
Join us in supporting #MedSafetyWeek, a global social media campaign running from Monday, 3 November to Sunday, 9 November, 2025.
This year marks a milestone – it is the 10th year of #MedSafetyWeek.
About #MedSafetyWeek - we all have the power to make medicines safer
#MedSafetyWeek is an annual global initiative led by the Uppsala Monitoring Centre, the WHO Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring. It brings together medicines regulators and health organisations from over 100 countries to raise awareness about the importance of reporting side effects.
We all have the power to make medicines safer. Whether you are a patient, a carer, or a healthcare professional, you can report side effects to the HPRA.
Why it's important to report side effects to the HPRA
The HPRA protects public health by making sure that medicines, medical devices and other health products meet safety and quality standards.
One of the ways we monitor the safety of medicines is by reviewing reports of side effects sent to us by:
- Patients and carers
- Healthcare professionals
- Members of the public
When you report side effects, it helps us understand more about a medicine. It can help us to identify new side effects and learn more about known side effects. Each report can add to a bigger picture, helping us to spot trends and identify a potential safety issue sooner. This allows us to take timely action to reduce risks.
How to report
Anyone can report a side effect using our online form.
